Mis experiencias en Santiago de Chile: Un circuito Turístico con Santiagovisión

Con el siguiente texto quiero (soy de Suiza y tengo 20 años) darles un breve resumen de la ciudad de Santiago y con mis imágenes quiero mostrarles no solo los hitos turísticos comunes, sino también unas cosas pequeñas que a mí personalmente me llamaron la atención. Pero también quiero dejarles bastante espacio para sus imaginaciones propias y espero que se desarrolle una breve película sobre Santiago en su cabeza cuando me acompañen ahora virtualmente a mi tour por Santiago de Chile. ¡Qué te diviertas!

A mí, me gusta explorar una ciudad para mi mismo. Por eso, no quería hacer un citytour clásico, en el cual te acompañan a todos los lugares y te dan toda la información. Busqué algo para ser más activa. Con el servicio de Santiagovisión encontré la solución perfecta. Los buses te dejan en todos los lugares importantes de la ciudad de Santiago. Tú te bajas donde quieras. El guía bilingüe a bordo del bus te entrega un folleto con toda la información necesaria de las diferentes paradas. En las paradas que te parecen interesantes te bajas y eres libre para andar por las calles, visitar los lugares propuestos y cuando termines, de nuevo tomes el bus hasta el próximo lugar de interés.

Empiezo mi tour en “La Moneda”.

El día comienza nublado y por eso me decido, ir a un museo primero. En el folleto de Santiagovisión hay una propuesta para el museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, que está ubicado cerca de la parada La Moneda. Ahí se puede ver una exposición del arte – figuras humanas, platos, vasos y más – de diferentes culturas antiguas, la más famosa debe ser la cultura Maya. Como no soy una fanática de museos, no paso mucho tiempo aquí y continúo mi tour al Palacio La Moneda. Después de un control de seguridad y unas miradas críticas de los carabineros - que aciertan la seguridad y tranquilidad de este lugar -, puedo entrar al Palacio. Estoy un poco decepcionada, porque no hay mucho para ver adentro.

Después de esta mañana tranquila, quiero ir al centro, dónde hay un montón de autos y personas y mucho más vida. Pero antes de eso encuentro una calle que no había visto antes, el paseo Bulnes.

Camino desde La Moneda en el paseo Bulnes por abajo y de nuevo por arriba. Es un paseo sin autos, sin ruido y muy agradable. Después de caminar tanto, necesito un recreo. Me siento en un banco en la calle Ahumada, que es un paseo lleno de gente, ubicado en el centro de Santiago. Este lugar me gusta mucho para observar a la gente, escuchar la música de varios grupos en la calle y disfrutar del ambiente. Aquí se ven mamás caminando con sus hijos, grupos de alumnos regresando del colegio, trabajadores que se compran un helado, turistas que miran el mapa, mendigos que piden dinero, hombres que te limpian los zapatos y carabineros que aseguran la seguridad o al menos lo intentan. Desde que estoy aquí, mis vecinos en el banco ya cambiaron varias veces. Podría quedarme aquí por horas.

Con nueva energía regreso a La Moneda, dónde subo al bus de Santiagovisión para ir a la próxima parada, la cual está al frente de la iglesia San Francisco. Como los iglesias no me interesan mucho, no me bajo y continúo el circuito hasta la parada “Cerro Santa Lucía”. Aquí saco unas fotos buenísimas. El cerro es un lugar para descansar, arriba de las calles llenas de autos y los edificios enormes de la ciudad. Temprano por la mañana o tarde por la noche casi no hay nadie aquí. Solo unas turistas con cámara y limpiadores quienes trabajan para que el cerro se presente de su mejor lado.

Después de este maravilloso paseo, paso por la feria artesanal, al lado del cerro, donde compro un regalo típico chileno para mi amiga de Suiza y espero al bus de Santiagovisión, que va a llevarme a otra parte de la ciudad, el barrio Providencia. En este barrio más alto se bajan las personas que quieren hacer shopping y disfrutar de un ambiente más europeo. Aquí doy una vuelta por las tiendas y bebiendo un café en el Starbucks Coffee, me siento casi como en casa. Cansada de todos las impresiones del día, me voy a mi casa.

En el camino paso por uno de mis lugares favoritos de la ciudad, una fuente grande en un parque en Providencia. Desgraciadamente tampoco en este lugar el ruido del tráfico nos deja tranquilo, pero igual es un lugar para olvidar el estrés, soñar y pensarse en otro mundo. Por el día y con viento fuerte, la fuente sirve para mojarse, algo muy rico con el calor de este verano. Aquí encuentro a una pareja de Colombia y hablamos un rato sobre nuestros países y la belleza de Chile. Maravilloso se ve la fuente también por la noche, cundo hay luces y el agua aparece en diferentes colores. Eso sirve para sacar unas fotos buenísimas.

Al día siguiente mi tour continúa desde Providencia hacia Vitacura. Vitacura es, como Providencia, un barrio más alto de Santiago, aquí se encuentran tiendas para la clase alta y también en la calle puedo notar una gran diferencia a los sectores más pobres o el centro de la ciudad.

Me bajo en la próxima parada del bus, cerca del cerro San Cristóbal. Este es el lugar número uno, visitado por extranjeros y habitantes para descansar, hacer deporte o disfrutar de una vista sobre el smog de Santiago – con buen tiempo se ve todo Santiago hasta la cordillera.

El cerro es con 860 mts. sobre el nivel del mar el punto más alto de Santiago. Sobre todo los fines de semana el cerro está lleno de deportistas que suben caminando y transpirando hasta la cima o bajan en bicicleta con una velocidad increíble. Para los menos deportivos hay la posibilidad de subir y bajar en auto, teleférico o funicular. Arriba del cerro hay una piscina, un zoológico, un jardín japonés, un restaurante y muchos lugares para descansar. Juntos con pocos turistas subo al funicular y espero unos minutos hasta que salga. Estoy aquí por la segunda vez y el ambiente es totalmente diferente. La última vez, Domingo, este lugar estaba lleno de personas, ahora, Miércoles, la tranquilidad encima el punto más alto del cerro me sorprende mucho. Es un buen sentimiento, poder mirar sobre todo la cuidad desde muy arriba. El tiempo parece pararse.
Después de una mañana agradable, bajo en el pequeño teleférico. Otro hito turístico aquí cerca es la casa de Pablo Neruda. Pero yo prefiero un paseo en el barrio Bellavista. Este lugar es con sus restaurantes y bares el lugar perfecto para la vida nocturna.

La próxima parada está en el Palacio de Bellas Artes, donde está el museo de Arte Contemporáneo y el parque Forestal. Doy una vuelta por el parque y después voy otra vez al centro, a la Plaza de Armas. La Plaza de Armas es la plaza más conocida de Santiago. Veo a muchos turistas, pero también a chilenos que disfrutan de su recreo o caminan por la plaza, tomando helado. Aquí hay otro museo, la Iglesia Santo Domingo y el correo central. Me quedo un poco en la plaza y observo a un pintor que dibuja a una mujer y uno de los muchos perros sin dueño que hay en todo Santiago, tomando el sol.





Yo termino el circuito en la parada Estación Mapocho. Esta ya no sirve como estación, ahora hay exposiciones o fiestas adentro. Aquí cerca está también el Mercado Central, cual es muy famoso para comer mariscos. Aquí experimento Santiago de otra forma. Ya antes de entrar al mercado central, hay varios dueños de restaurantes que intentan convencerme almorzar en su restaurante. Por suerte las personas aquí no son tan acosadoras, en comparación con otros países. Un “no” se acepta sin problemas. Al entrar al mercado siento el deseo de salir pronto. El olor de pescado y carne crudo no me gusta mucho. Ya viene un vendedor y empieza hablar conmigo en inglés, portugués, francés y alemán. Pero él también me deja tranquila después de darme su tarjeta.De todo mi tour, esta estación me gustó menos.

Lo que prefiero de Santiago es el centro y los lugares tranquilos para descansar. Lo más sorprendente y dificultosa para mí son las diferencias y los contrastes que hay en esta ciudad. Me refiero a diferentes cosas, como el estado de las calles, la pobreza o riqueza de la gente o la arquitectura – moderno al lado de antigua, como se ve bien en una de las fotos.

Meine Erfahrungen und Erlebnisse in Santiago de Chile: Eine Stadtrundfahrt mit Santiagovisión

Mit dem folgenden Reisebericht möchte ich (bin 20 Jahre alt und komme aus der Schweiz) euch einen knappen Überblick über Santiago de Chile verschaffen und mit meinen Bildern euch nicht nur die üblichen Touristenatraktionen, sondern auch einige kleine Dinge, die mir persönlich speziell aufgefallen sind, zeigen. Ich will euch aber auch genug Platz für Vorstelllungen lassen und hoffe, dass sich in eurem Kopf ein kurzer Film über Santiago abspielt, wenn ihr mich jetzt virtuell auf meinem Rundgang begleitet. Viel Spass!

Ich befinde mich im riesigen Santiago de Chile (März 2008) und mein Ziel ist es, diese Stadt zu erforschen und kennenzulernen. Dies möchte ich aktiv tun, das heisst, ich erkunde die Stadt auf eigene Faust. Eine typische Citytour, wie sie aus unzähligen Stätden bekannt ist, wollte ich nicht machen, da ich nicht einfach alle Informationen vermittelt bekommen will. Mit dem Service von Santiagovisión habe ich desshalb eine gute Lösung gefunden. Die Busse verkehren den ganzen Tag in der Stadt, die Guids machen aber keine geführten Touren. Sie sind im Bus und geben dir alle nötigen Infos mit auf den Weg und beantworten dir selbstverständlich alle deine Fragen. Da wo es dich interessiert, steigst du aus, erkundest den Ort so lange du willst und wenn du es gesehen hast, nimmst du den nächsten Bus und lässt dich bis zur nächsten Haltestelle bringen.

Ich beginne meine Tour also bei der ersten Haltestelle des Santiagovisión Busses, die sich beim Palacio La Moneda befindet.

Da der Tag bedeckt beginnt, beschliesse ich, zuerst ein Museum zu besuchen. Santiagovisión empfiehlt das „Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino“, wo Skulpturen und andere Handwerke der antiken Kulturen, die bekannteste ist wohl die Kultur der Mayas, zu sehen sind. Da ich nicht der grösste Museumsfan bin, verweile ich nur kurz und gehe dann weiter zum Palacio La Moneda. Nach einer ausgiebigen Sicherheitskontrolle und einigen scharfen Blicken der vielen Sicherheitsleute, die das Gebäude umgeben und für eine sichere und ruhige Stimmung sorgen, kann ich den Palacio betreten und von innen bestaunen. Hier werde ich aber etwas enttäuscht, da reichlich wenig zu sehen ist.
Nach diesem gemütlichen und ruhigen Morgen, zieht es mich ins Zentrum der Stadt, dort, wo sich die Autos stauen und die Menschen sich in der Masse bewegen. Vorher entdecke ich aber noch den „Paseo Bulnes“; eine Strasse, die mir vorher noch nie aufgefallen ist. Ich schlendere von der Moneda den Paseo Bulnes nach unten und wieder zurück und geniesse den ruhigen Ort ohne Autos.
Dann gehe ich weiter zur Ahumada – in Zürich wäre dies die Bahnhofstrasse, einfach etwas weniger luxuriös –, wo eine ganz andere Atmosphäre herrscht. Ich setze mich auf eine Bank und beobachte das Treiben des „centro de Santiago de Chile“. Hier sieht man alle Arten von Personen: Mütter, die gemütlich mit ihren Kindern flanieren; Geschäftsleute, die sich im Vorbeigehen ein Eis kaufen; ganze Schülergruppen, welche von der Schule kommen; Bettler, die ihren Geldbeutel schwenken; Musiker, die ihre Stimme zum Besten geben; Touristen, die den Stadtplan studieren; Schuhputzer, die zeitunglesend auf Kunden warten und patroullierende Beamte, die für die Sicherheit sorgen oder es zumindest versuchen. Seit ich hier sitze, haben meine Banknachbarn schon drei Mal gewechselt. Ich könnte stundenlang hier verweilen.

Mit neuer Energie kehre ich zum Palacio La Moneda zurück, um dort den Bus bis zur nächsten Haltestelle zu nehmen. Diese ist bei der „Iglesia San Francisco“. Da mich Kirchen weniger interessieren, steige ich nicht aus, sondern fahre gleich weiter bis zum „Cerro Santa Lucía“. Es gibt zwei bekannte Hügel und somit Ausflugsziele hier in Santiago. Der Cerro Santa Lucía ist einer davon. Am Morgen früh, sowie am späten Nachmittag trifft man hier fast niemanden an, ausser ein paar wenigen Touristen mit Kamera und einigen Arbeitern, die die Anlage bis auf den kleinsten Dreck putzen, damit der Cerro sich von seiner besten Seite präsentiert. Hier mache ich ein paar schöne Fotos und geniesse es, oberhalb des Lärms und der Hektik der Stadt zu sein. Auf dem Weg zurück zum Busstopp, mache ich einen Halt bei der „feria artesanal“ direkt neben dem Cerro. Hier gibt es die typischen chilenischen Souvenirs zu kaufen, darunter der bekannte Lapislázuli. Nachdem ich ein Geschenk für meine Kollegin besorgt habe, steige ich wieder in den Bus und fahre zur nächsten Station, die in Providencia liegt. Hier steigt aus, wer shoppen oder ein europäischeres Klima erleben will. Providencia ist einer der gehobeneren Sektoren der Stadt. Hier gönne ich mir einen Kaffee im Starbucks Coffee und fühle mich dabei fast wie zu Hause. Für heute habe ich genug gesehen und trete meinen Heimweg an. Dabei komme ich bei einem meiner Lieblingsplätze in Santiago vorbei. Ein Wasserspiel in einem Park in Providencia. Leider bleibt man auch hier nicht vom Autolärm, der einen in der ganzen Stadt verfolgt, verschohnt. Trotzdem geniesse ich es sehr, in diesem Park zu sitzen und dem Geräusch des Wassers zu lauschen. Dank dem teilweise starken Wind, dient die Fontäne ab und zu als Dusche, was man an einem heissen Sommertag sehr gut gebrauchen kann. Dies ist ein guter Ort, um die Seele baumeln zu lassen und in Gedanken weit weg vom Stadtleben zu sein. Hier treffe ich ein Touristenpaar aus Kolumbien und wir erzählen uns einwenig von unserem Heimatland und sprechen über die Schönheit Chiles. Abends, im Dunkeln, ist dieser Platz ganz besonders empfehlenswert. Dank einigen Lichtern erscheint das Wasser in verschiedenen Farben und bietet wunderschöne Fotomotive.

Am nächsten Tag gehts weiter von Providencia nach Vitacura. Vitacura ist, wie Providencia, einer der gehobeneren Stadtteile Santiagos. Hier befinden sich teure Boutiquen und schicke Kaffees. Auch auf der Strasse sieht man einen deutlichen Unterschied zu den ärmeren Sektoren oder dem Zentrum der Stadt. Ich fahre weiter bis zum zweiten grossen Ausflugsziel vieler Stadtbewohner, sowie Touristen, dem Cerro San Cristóbal. Um nach oben zu gelangen, bieten sich verschiedene Möglichkeiten: Eine Drahtseilbahn auf der einen Seite des Hügels, kleine Gondeln auf der anderen, mit Auto oder sportlich zu Fuss oder mit dem Velo. Am Wochenende wimmelt es nur so von Sporttreibenden, die schwitzend die Spitze erklimmen oder mit extremem Tempo die Strassen herunter blochen. Auf dem Cerro gibt es einen Zoologischen Garten, ein Schwimmbad, sowie Verpflegung und Parkanlagen um sich auszuruhen und die Aussicht zu geniessen. Hier ist der höchste Punkt Santiagos (860 M.ü.M.) und somit hat man eine super Aussicht über den Smog von Santiago und, bei guter Sicht, über die ganze Stadt bis hin zur Bergkette. Mit einigen wenigen, aber typischen Touristen, steige ich also in die antike Drahtseilbahn ein und warte eine Ewigkeit, bis sie endlich abfährt. Ich bin jetzt zum zweiten Mal hier und die Atmosphäre ist heute, Mittwoch, ganz anders als das letzte Mal, Sonntag, als es von Touristen nur so wimmelte. Es ist ein gutes Gefühl, von weit oben auf diese riesige Stadt hinunterblicken zu können und die Ruhe auf dem höchsten Punkt des Hügels überrascht mich. Die Zeit scheint hier still zu stehen.
Nach einem gemütlichen Morgen auf dem Cerro, fahre ich in der kleinen Gondel wieder nach unten. Eine weitere Touristenattraktion ist das Haus von Pablo Neruda, welches sich am Fusse des Cerros befindet. Ich ziehe aber einen Rundgang im Barrio Bellavista vor. Dies ist ein Viertel mit vielen Restaurants und Bars, auch spät Abends noch sehr belebt und somit das Ausgangsziel vieler, die das Nachtleben geniessen wollen.

Die nächste Busstation ist der Palacio de Bellas Artes. Hier habe ich die Wahl zwischen einem Museum (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo) oder einem grossen Park, dem „Parque Forestal“. Natürlich entscheide ich mich für einen Spaziergang im Park. Dann geht es schon wieder weiter Richtung Zentrum. Der Plaza de Armas ist das nächste Ziel des Buses. Der Plaza de Armas ist der wohl berühmteste Platz Santiagos. Hier sehe ich viele Touristen, aber auch Einheimische, die ihre Mittagspause geniessen, sich in einem der Cafes verpflegen oder glacéschleckend über den Plaz schlendern. Hier befindet sich auch ein weiteres Museum, die grosse Post „Correo Central“ und eine Kirche „Iglesia Santo Domingo“. In Mitten des Plazes bleibe ich eine Weile stehen und beobachte eine Frau, die sich porträtieren lässt und einer der vielen besitzerlosen Hunde, der sich in der heissen Sonne reckt.

Mein Stadtrundgang endet bei der Estación Mapocho, wo sich auch der Mercado Central befindet. Hier befinde ich mich wieder in einer etwas gefährlicheren und chilenischeren Region. Die Estación Mapocho ist ein ehemaliger Bahnhof, der jetzt für Ausstellungen oder Feste benutzt wird. Der Mercado Central ist berühmt für guten Seafood. Hier erlebe ich Santiago ganz anders. Schon bevor ich den Mercado Central betrete, versuchen diverse Restaurantbesitzer mich zu überzeugen, doch bei ihnen Mittag zu Essen. Glücklicherweise sind die Leute hier aber nicht sehr aufdringlich im Vergleich mit anderen Ländern. Ein Nein wird problemlos akzeptiert. In dieser Halle drin verspüre ich dann sofort den Wunsch, diesen Ort wieder zu verlassen. Ein starker Geruch von Fisch und rohem Fleisch kommt mir entgegen, was ich persöhnlich weniger mag. Schon heftet sich ein Verkäufer an meine Fersen und beginnt in Französich, Deutsch, Portugiesisch und Englisch auf mich einzureden. Auch er gibt sich aber damit zufrieden, mir eine Visitenkarte seines Restaurants mitzugeben.

An diesem Ort habe ich mich also am wenigsten wohl gefühlt von allen Stationen. Asonsten gefällt es mir sehr im belebten Zentrum, ebenso wie an den ruhigen Plätzen der Stadt. Am erstaunlichsten und bedenklichsten ist für mich die Gegensätzlichkeit Santiagos, die grossen Unterschiede, die zu sehen sind – sei es jetzt der Strassenzustand, der Reichtum oder eben die Armut, oder sei es das Architektonische, antik neben modern, wie auf einem der Fotos gut zu sehen ist.

My adventures and experiences in Santiago de Chile: a citytour with Santiagovisión

With the following text I (20 years old and from Switzerland) want to give you a short summary about Santiago and with my pictures I want to show you not just the tipical tourist attractions, but some little things, which I personally liked very much. As well I want to leave you enough space for your own imagination and I hope, there’s playing a short film in your mind, when you’re attending me now virtual on my citytour in Santiago de Chile. Enjoy it!

I like to experience a city on my own, without a guide who gives me all the information straight away. That’s why I didn’t want to join in a citytour like it is known of various cities all over the world. I was looking for something where I can be more active. So I found the solution with Santiagovisión. Their buses pass through the city all day long, you hop on and off wherever you want. The guide on bord gives you all the necessary information and you decide whether you’re interessted in this place or not, if not, you continue the tour.

I begin my citytour at “La Moneda”.

As the day starts cloudy I decide to visit a museum first. Santiagovisión proposed me the “Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino”, where you can see art of ancien culturs, the most famous is probably the Maya culture. As I don’t realy like museums, I just stay for a short time and then visit Palacio La Moneda. After a security control I can enter, but this visit disapoints me a little. There isn’t a lot to see and so it’s not very interesting.

After this calm morning, I intend going to the center, where I’ll find a crowd of poeple and cars. But before I see a street which I’ve never noticed before. It’s called “Paseo Bulnes” and it’s free of trafic, what makes it very enjoyable. After strolling the Paseo Bulnes up and down I need a brake, so I sit down in the Ahumada Street, which is situated in the very center of Santiago. I like this place a lot for observing the people and listen to the various musicgroups which are playing for the passers. Here I see mothers strolling with their children, poor people asking for money, businessmen eating icecream on their way to the office, groups of students, returning from school, men reading the newspaper and waiting for clients to clean their shoes, tourists reading the map and security men whatching for our safty, or at least attempting it. Since I’m sitting here, the people next to me came and went. I could stay here for hours.

With new energie I return to the bus stop at “La Moneda” and continue my trip. The next stop is a church, called Iglesia San Francisco. I’m not really interested in churches, that’s why I stay in the bus until the stop “Cerro Santa Lucía”, one of the famous touristplaces. Early in the morning or late in the evening you don’t find many people here. Just some tourists with their camera and some people who clean the passes for presenting the hill from it’s best side. Up on the hill I take some beautiful pictures and enjoy being above the traffic and noise of the town. On my way back I pass the “feria artesanal”, where you can buy some tipical chilean souvenirs, included the famous Lapislázuli. After buying a present for my friend in Switzerland I hop on the bus and drive until the next stop at Providencia. Providencia is one of the higher sectors of Santiago and here you hop off for shopping or enxperiencing a more european atmosphere. I visit some of the shops and drink a coffee at Starbucks Coffee, which makes me feel like being at home.

Now I’ve seen enough for today, so I start my way back home, where I pass one of my favourite places in Santiago. It’s a fountain in a little park in Providencia. It’s a place for relaxing and imagining a life far away from the city. On windy days, the fountain serves for showering, very pleasant on a hot summer day. Here I meet some tourists from Colombia and we speek a bit about our countries and about Chile’s beauty. Even more recommendable is this place at night. Some lights make appearing the water in different colours, perfect for taking some nice pictures.

The next day I continue my circuit from Providencia to Vitacura. Vitacura is one of Santiago’s highest sectors. Here are placed some expensive boutiques and nice cafes. As well, on the street I notice the difference between this sector and the center or a poor sector of Santiago.

After this, I take the bus until the San Cristóbal Hill. This is the place where many people come to, to do sport, relax, or take pictures of the beautiful view over Santiago’s smog – with nice weather you see over whole Santiago until the mountains (the San Cristóbal hill is with its 860 m.o.s. the highest point in Santiago). Here you find a swimming pool, a restaurant, a zoologic garden and places to rest. There are different possibilities to go up and down. Either you take the funicular or the cableway, go by car or like many poeple do it, go up by foot. Most of all, at weekends the ways up to the hill are full of people who run up sweating and drive down with an incredible speed. Together with few tourists I take the funicular and wait some minuts until it departs. I’m here for the second time and the atmosphere is different. The last time, on a Sunnday, there were a lot of tourists, today, Wendsday, the silence up on the highest point of the hill, surprises me. It’s a nice feeling, standing up here and looking over the big city from high above. The time seems standing still.
After having spent a nice morning at the top of the hill, I take the cableway to go down and instead of visiting Pablo Neruda’s house, which is situated at the bottom of the hill, I spend a bit of time in the “barrio Bellavista”. With its many restaurants and pubs this sector is really nice to spend the evenings and nights. The bus continues its circuit to the “Palacio de Bellas Artes” where I hop off as well. In this place I have the choice between the “museo de Arte Contemporáneo” and the “Parque Forestal”. Of course I choose going for a walk in the park.

After this I return to the center, the next bus stop is at “Plaza de Armas”, which probably is the most famous place in the city. Here I found another museum, the central postoffice “correo central” and a Catedral. I stay for a while In the midle of the place and watch an artist painting a woman’s portrait and one of the many homeless dogs in Santiago sunbathing in the hot summer sun.

My tour ends in “Estación Mapocho”, which no longer is a station, but used for parties and expositions. Here I visit the “Mercado Central”, famous for its exquisite seafood dishes. Here I get to know to another Chile. Already before entering in the market some proprietaries try to convence me to eat in their restaurant. Fortunately the people here acept the answer “no” without problems. I enter in the Mercado Central and wish going out again. I don’t really like the odor of fish and raw meet. A salesman starts to speak to me in English, Portuguese, German and French.

But he as well lets me go after giving me a card of his restaurant. This place I’d liked less, I prefer the center and the calm places of Santiago. The most surprising things for me are the differences and contrasts which you see in this city, concerning the road conditions, the poverty or richness and the architecture – antique next to modern, what you can see well on one of the pictures.
